EV Parts by VIN Number — Decoder for Chinese Electric Cars

One VIN is enough to know exactly which car — and therefore exactly which parts, diagrams and part numbers — you're dealing with.

What does an EV VIN tell you? A 17-character Vehicle Identification Number encodes the manufacturer (characters 1–3), vehicle attributes such as body type and powertrain (4–8), a check digit (9), the model year (10), the assembly plant (11), and a unique serial number (12–17). For Chinese EVs, the leading "L" identifies China-built vehicles. EVcoder decodes the full identity — brand, model, trim, model year, battery capacity, motor specification and destination market — and links it to the exact parts catalog, exploded diagrams and OEM part numbers for that configuration.

Try the sample prefixes: LGX… (BYD) or LRW… (Tesla Shanghai) for a live-style preview. Full decoding runs in the EVcoder app.

What you get

From 17 characters to a complete parts picture

Exact vehicle identity

Brand, model, trim, model year, body style and destination market — resolved even when the car carries both a Chinese domestic name and an export name (e.g. Yuan PLUS / Atto 3).

Powertrain specification

Battery chemistry and capacity, motor type and output, charging standard (GB/T, CCS) — the specs that determine which replacement parts actually fit.

Direct parts linkage

The decoded configuration links straight to its parts catalog: systems, exploded diagrams, OEM part numbers and compatible alternatives for that specific trim.

In the field

Don't type it. Scan it.

The EVcoder mobile app reads VINs directly with the camera — dash plates, door jamb stickers, even stamped chassis numbers. No transcription errors, no climbing back into the car to re-check a digit.
